Compare electricity costs for the way your office works
An office energy review starts with what your business pays for and when the space is occupied. Check your own meter, lease arrangements and usage before comparing plans. A mostly empty Friday and a busy meeting day can have quite different energy needs.

- Tenancy
What is on your meter?
Separate your tenancy’s electricity from shared services and other building charges.
- Occupancy
When is the office in use?
Include hybrid working, cleaning and essential equipment that runs after hours.
- Comparison
What does the plan charge?
Check usage and daily supply together, then review demand and time-of-use details.
A tenancy checklist, not a measured energy profile. Confirm billing arrangements with the property manager and retailer.
Check which energy costs belong to your tenancy
Find out whether electricity is billed directly by a retailer, through an embedded network or as part of a shared building arrangement. Ask the property manager which services your meter covers and whether heating or cooling is charged separately.
A whole-building energy figure is not the same as your tenancy’s consumption. Keep separately billed services and common-area charges out of a simple electricity-plan comparison until you understand what they include.
Match your comparison to actual office hours
List occupied days, cleaning hours and equipment that runs after staff leave. Hybrid working can change the pattern, but fewer people in the office will not necessarily reduce every load by the same amount.
Check time-of-use periods against meter data where available. Servers, security systems and other essential equipment may run continuously. Do not assume that all usage happens between opening and closing.
Review lighting, cooling and equipment routines
Check whether lighting and air-conditioning schedules reflect current occupancy. Ask the building manager about controls shared with other tenants before making changes. Keep required ventilation, security and essential systems operating.
Review power-management settings for suitable office equipment with your IT team. Record one operational change at a time and compare similar periods, allowing for weather and attendance. This helps separate an equipment change from a price change.
Compare the full tariff on the same basis
Use annual consumption, daily supply charges and a consistent GST basis. A low-usage office can be sensitive to the daily charge, so a cheaper cents-per-kWh rate does not automatically mean a cheaper year.
Demand charges and time-of-use pricing need the relevant usage profile. Our automated estimate is a usage-and-supply starting point, not a complete quote for a complex tariff. Confirm full rates, fees and eligibility with the retailer.
What to have ready for an office bill check
Upload the detailed charges pages of a supported business bill and review the postcode and network after extraction. Keep annual usage, the current contract and any tenancy billing information available.
Where comparable offers exist, review up to five plans from our panel and compare up to three side by side. A selected plan or callback request does not switch your supply. We explain when no cheaper supported plan is found.
